Doha , Qatar, 14 December 2025: Vodafone Qatar P.Q.S.C. (“Vodafone Qatar” or the “Company”) announced the start of the full transition from third-generation (3G) services to fourth- and fifth generation (4G and 5G) services, in line with the decision of the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) to shut down third-generation mobile networks across the country as of 31 December 2025. This decision issued by the Authority applies to all mobile network operators in the country and represents an important step reflecting the efforts made by the State to develop and modernize the telecommunications infrastructure nationwide, ensuring the provision of faster, more reliable, and future-ready digital services.
In this context, Vodafone Qatar will completely discontinue third-generation services while continuing to provide voice and data services through its fourth- and fifth-generation networks. The company urges customers who use devices that support only third-generation technology to upgrade their phones to devices compatible with fourth- or fifth-generation technologies to ensure uninterrupted service.
